Albert Asawaroengchai

Principal DevOps Engineer | Cloud-Native & Infrastructure Specialist

đź‘‹ TL;DR

I’m a Principal DevOps Engineer with a career built on the belief that infrastructure should be invisible, resilient, and highly automated. With a foundation in Linux and Open Source, I’ve spent two decades evolving from managing physical servers to orchestrating global-scale Kubernetes clusters.

Currently, I’m at Allianz Technology, focusing on the intersection of efficiency and scale—bridging the gap between complex data pipelines and high-velocity software delivery.

🧠 Technical DNA

While LinkedIn lists my tools, here is how I actually apply them:

  • Cloud-Native & Kubernetes: My “home base”. I specialize in building self-healing systems and GitOps workflows that allow teams to ship with confidence.
  • The Linux & HPC Roots: Unlike many “Cloud” engineers, I grew up in the world of High-Performance Computing and bare-metal Linux. This gives me a deep understanding of what’s actually happening under the abstraction layers of AWS and GCP.
  • The Modern Stack: I’m currently championing AIOps and DevSecOps—integrating security and intelligent monitoring directly into the CI/CD lifecycle rather than treating them as separate concerns.

đź—ş The Professional Journey

Instead of just a list, here is the context of my career evolution:

The Leadership Era (2021–Present)

Principal & Senior Engineering Roles | Allianz, Worldpay, NatWest Focused on high-stakes FinTech and enterprise transformations. I’ve spent these years navigating the complexities of regulated environments, implementing SRE principles, and mentoring teams to adopt a “Cloud-Native first” mindset.

The Growth & Data Phase (2018–2021)

DevOps & Data Engineering | Soho House, Royal Mail, Publicis Sapient A period of high-speed delivery. I led DevOps teams and built robust data pipelines, learning how to scale infrastructure for everything from luxury hospitality to national logistics.

The Foundation (2004–2017)

Systems Engineering & Administration | University of Sussex, Winton Group Where it all began. Nearly a decade at the University of Sussex managing HPC clusters and Linux environments. My BEng in Mechanical Engineering from this same era still informs my “systems-thinking” approach to software today.
